PACKING PROCEDURE
At Shop Aquarium Fish, we believe in packing our fish for any weather our deliveries may encounter along the way. All of our boxes are lined with 3/4" Styrofoam which provides an excellent foundation for protecting livestock. All our livestock is shipped in breather bags and is then heat sealed. This allows for a greater volume of water per a bag, allowing fish more room to swim while reducing sloshing inside the bag. All breather bags will be separated by paper to provide for proper gas exchange. We also add Poly Filter to every bag. This aids in the absorption of unwanted ammonia during shipping. However, what truly separates Aquarium Fish Depot from others is found in the next step of our process where we use blow in cellulose insulation for added protection. This unique insulation fills in the voids between bags and thus blocks the flow of potentially damaging cold/hot air drafts. And its light-weight consistency means that shipping costs will remain as low as possible. With this tandem of insulations, we feel we are providing the optimal environment for our livestock during the entire shipping process. While we typically use standard 10x10x10 boxes, larger boxes are available if needed.
